Last week all the children from Heronswood Primary School celebrated World Book Day in style.  Every single child, across the whole school abandoned school uniform in favour of a book character costume instead.

The school was filled with a mass of characters from a whole range of books and it looked like the school had been invaded for the day.

During the day the children participated in a variety of fun activities which were all related to books.  These including baking cakes, creating posters, designing characters, making book marks etc.  Two governors shared their favourite books in classes before the whole school came together for a very special assembly.  During the assembly the children participated in a costume parade and we were delighted to have seven winners across the school.  It was lovely to see our Pre-school children involved in this assembly and parade too.

In the evening the children returned to school in their PJ’s ready to share their favourite bedtime stories.  It was fantastic to see so many children come back to school, excited to read books.  Parents from Pre-School also came along to join in with the fun and share their stories too.
