Admissions 20202
Term times

During the summer holidays, builders have been very busy creating a brand new outdoor area at Heronswood Primary School ready for the return of the children in September.

Over the past few years; the children, parents and school staff have been busily raising money through a range of different events including Summer fairs, Christmas fairs, Non-uniform days, Movie nights, Discos, Halloween parties etc.

In total just over £10,000 has now been raised through the different events which has enabled the outdoor project to take place.   The new outdoor area which will be available for all children at school to use will include a brand new shelter with a roof, a new stage area with seating and also a new story telling chair and seating area.

The middle area, between the two playgrounds which previously was a very muddy, unusable space and has now been completely transformed to enable it to be used and enjoyed by children and parents all year round.  This new area can be used at break times or for lessons as the three spaces have been specifically designed to fit a whole class.   If the children want to perform and act they have now have a purpose built stage area.  If the children want to share stories or their own writing they now have a story telling area and if they want an outdoor classroom they now have a shelter with a roof on, to protect them from the rain and shade them from the sun.

Mrs Pierpoint, Head of School said, “Our children needed additional areas that they could use, regardless of the weather conditions.  Through the hard work and dedication of our children, parents and staff the dream is now becoming a reality.    I am delighted with the way the new areas are coming along and can’t wait to see the children using them once the new term starts in September.”
