Children at Heronswood Primary School attended a ‘Great British Tea Party’ in the glorious sunshine to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Children from Pre-School up to Year 6 invited their families and friends to come along and join in with the fun.

During the ‘British’ day, children came to school dressed in an outfit which reflected Britishness. This ranged from red, white and blue outfits, Ladies Day at Ascot, Queen of Hearts, Royal uniforms, Military uniforms and even a Spitfire!

The children spent the day learning about famous and influential British people such as members of the Royal Family, Brunel, Shakespeare and The Beatles. This gave the children the opportunity to explore the cultural side of Britain.

At the end of the day, families and friends joined all the children on the school field for a successful tea party with the traditional tea and cake. To close the tea party, Years 5 and 6 performed a spectacular country dance which was enjoyed by all.
