Admissions 20202
Term times

Just before our half term holiday, the children from all three schools in our Rivers Academy Trust, participated in an arts week which focused on art from around the world.  The children looked at Africa, Australia, France, India and Belgium along with Rainforests and Oceans.

The children at Heronswood Primary school were given a host of different art tasks to participate in during the week, along with drama and dance workshops too.  Children from Reception to Year 6 were put into mixed age groups and then moved around the different activities run by the class teachers in a round robin, to ensure everybody had a go at every task on offer.  The mixed age groups enabled the younger children to have a support buddy as they moved around school and the older children showed how responsible they can be.

In addition, Mrs Castle from St Clements came to Heronswood to work with the children on a special art project, where they created different cultural wall hangings.  The children created their own designs on small pieces of fabric before adding them to the larger ones which will be displayed around the school.  .

Each of our twelve classes at Heronswood also designed and created their own large canvas during arts week, linked to their chosen country.  These canvases are bright and colourful and are now being displayed around the school; look out for the whale and octopus created by the Year 1 children, Hindu patterns by Year 2 children and Aboriginal art by Year 6.
