Welcome to Year R MM

Hello and welcome to YR MM.

Our class teacher is Miss Manning and our teaching assistants are Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Simmonds. In addition Mr Partridge teaches our class on a Wednesday morning taking the children out to Forest School.

In Reception the rules and expectations are built around the core values of our school.

  • Sharing
  • Trust
  • Achievement
  • Respect
  • Safety

We have also created our own class promises showing behaviour expectations and how to create a happy classroom.

PE and kit information

Our PE day is on a Monday.  Please can the children come to school in their PE kits on A Monday.

The PE kit is as follow:

Navy shorts, white polo shirt, white socks, navy joggers, navy jumper and trainers.

Welly Wednesday

Every Wednesday the children will be going to forest school in the morning. Children need to come into school in their own clothes. Forest school can be muddy and wet so please bring them in clothes that can get a bit messy. On forest school days it is important children have got coats as we like to go out whatever the weather. A pair of welly boots should remain in school.

Book changing

Children's books will be changed at the beginning of the week. As the children begin to blend sounds learned in phonics we will send out a reading scheme book. Please share this book a few times to allow children to familiarise themselves with newly learnt sounds and high frequency words.

A phonics homework will be sent out every Friday please can this be completed by the following Thursday. We will also send out the phonics sounds we have covered that week in their phonics books. The children will have ‘tricky bit’ words sent home to learn throughout the year.

Topic Information

You will find links to the topic web for each term in 'The Curriculum' subsection in 'About Us'. The topic web will allow you to see what your child is covering across the curriculum during this academic year.

Unlocking learning

All children will have a Bug Club login and this resource can be used at home to encourage more reading. These websites could also be used at home to support learning.
