On Wednesday 30th January all classes from Year 1 to 6 were involved in Code Day. The children were given the opportunity to spend an hour accessing Coding activities using a variety of websites.

Mr Campbell led each session and invited the children to think about key words associated with Coding: algorithm, debug, manipulation, logical. The children then spent time working through the activities appropriate for their age group. They were encouraged to work logically and complete the codes either independently or with a friend.

Various teachers commented on how well planned the day was and how much they felt their class got out of the session. “It’s been a great opportunity for the children to access Coding with the knowledge and experience Mr Campbell had to offer”, said Mrs Mikolajczyk.

The children in 1LJ said how much they enjoyed the activities, “It was really fun!” They enjoyed working with a Year 2 buddy and those that were reluctant at the beginning of the session left feeling much more confident.

Both Miss Jenkins and Miss Harrison said, “It was really useful to see coding in practice and the use of the technical language for this area of the curriculum”.
