On Thursday 8th June, children at Heronswood Primary School immersed themselves in a day of valuable and interesting activities relating to exercise and the human body, as part of their second Healthy Living Day.

Throughout the day, children at the school enjoyed a variety of activities aimed at promoting their physical well-being.  Latin and ball-room dancing was thoroughly enjoyed by both children and adults.  Golf was another huge hit for our Key Stage 2 children, with a few talented children being spotted!

During the day, parents and carers were invited into school to take part in an athletics workshop and a latin and ballroom dance session. Csaba Polgar (a Hungarian Dance Champion – director and owner of Style dance School) taught eager adults and children The Mumba and The Waltz. Parents and Carers thoroughly loved the experience.

One parent remarked, ‘I’ve never thought about dancing like this. I watch Strictly Come Dancing on the TV and would never consider I could ever dance like that – I would love to develop this skill.’

This was the final day of the three events to involve children and their families in the drive to promote healthy lifestyles and increase fitness amongst the younger generation.  Thank you to all the children, parent and carers for your support in our Healthy Living days and the Walk to School Week.
