Children in Years 3 and 4 at Heronswood Primary School ended the term on a high with their amazing performance of Pirates Vs Mermaids!

The audience were left mesmerised as the children all aged between 7 and 9 commanded the stage with such confidence and passion.

With only a short time to practise, the children threw themselves into the play and learnt their lines and song words with enthusiasm. We were immensely proud of all the children and their ability to produce a spectacular performance. It was clear for all to see just how much fun the children were having.

Me Hearty High School was the most distinguished pirate school on the seven seas and the trainee pirates couldn’t wait to graduate and become proper pirates.  There was only one problem… none of them could swim!  If they couldn’t swim they would fail their ‘ARRR’ levels and then what would they do? The answer lay with the mermaids, but pirates do not like the mermaids and the mermaids do not like the pirates – Would they ever find a way to get along? Luckily by the end of the play the pirates and the mermaids were not exactly friends but not enemies either.  We are sure children will have many memories of this play for years to come.

Jacob commented, “The costumes looked phenomenal and everyone worked as a team to ensure their lines were learnt.”

Theo said, “I’m really proud that I managed to pull off my parrot solo.”

Jess mentioned, “I’m really proud of the mermaids. We were very sassy and showed the pirates that we were better than them!”
