This week it was the turn of our Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 parents to became children again as they learnt about maths in the classrooms.  We wanted our parents to understand how maths is taught at Heronswood so that they are able to support their children with their learning.

The teachers modelled to the parents, along with the children how to use different strategies for addition and subtraction.  The teachers also discussed place value, hundreds, tens and units and inverse operation. Parents then put their own maths skills to the test as the teachers asked them to do different challenges with the children.

We were delighted with the number of parents who attended the sessions and all the feedback was really positive.  We are looking forward to holding different workshops in the New Year.
