Children at Heronswood Primary School have been participating in and enjoying extra French lessons during the Autumn Term.

The children, from Years 5 and 6, have given up an hour of their time after school to immerse themselves in the French language.  The children were lucky enough to be taught by a specialist language teacher, who speaks a number of languages.

The lessons covered many areas ranging from naming parts of the body, colours, foods, hobbies and families. The lessons have been interactive and engaging and the children have been learning through art, role play and catchy songs, all of which the children will not forget for some time. The children thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and even performed their newly acquired language skills to their families in a special assembly, which everyone involved loved.

Chloe, a pupil from Year 5 said, “My favourite part was performing to all of the parents.” Another pupil from Year 5, Evelyn, stated, “I liked learning more of the French language.”

The children are all looking forward to continuing to expand their knowledge of French both at primary school and when they move up to secondary school.
