On Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd July the amazing Year Six pupils at Heronswood said a fond farewell to their school friends during their leaving assembly and passing out parade.   It was a celebration of the children’s time at school, sharing memories with both staff and pupils.

Parents, families and carers were invited in for a Leavers Assembly, which was a very emotionally charged experience for all, as the Year six children shared memories from Reception to the current day. Teachers and parents were thanked and for the part they had played in their life, celebrated by the children.

It was a truly magical moment with many happy tears from both adults and children!   It was a pleasure watching the Year Six children enjoying their last assembly – with confidence – showing that they were truly prepared for the next stage of their academic journey.

After the tears were wiped away, it was time for the annual Children versus Parents/ Carers/ Family Rounders Match.  In usual tradition, the adults were buoyant and envisaging an easy victory.    Mrs Millhouse took on the role of umpire and reigned in the enthusiastic adults; making sure they adhered to the rules.    After a closely played match – the children were victorious by two rounders.

It was then time to relax! Teachers had been busily preparing a delicious BBQ for the children and their parents.  This was followed by ice-cream! Children and adults then relaxed, enjoying the bouncy castle and a very messy water fight.

All in all, it was a very memorable afternoon. A perfect goodbye afternoon to a fantastic group of Year Six children! Good luck everyone as you move onto your High Schools.
