The Heronswood Dance Club sparkled, dazzled and amazed their families and friends recently with a jaw dropping performance at Baxter College.

In total, 30 children from Year 4, 5 and 6 have been practising and refining a range of skills since joining the dance club in September.  The children have learnt a number of dance styles including The Jive, Tango, Bhangra, contemporary and Street.

Some of the children performed solos, others duets and others performed in groups.  In addition there were 2 dances that were performed by the whole dance club.

The final performance of the night was spectacular.  The dance was performed by the whole group, and it was a Street Dance named Poison.  The children all wore specially designed t-shirts and make up which looked like poison was flowing through their veins.  The special UV lights then made the children glow in the dark.  The parents were so impressed with the final dance that they asked for a second performance.

Miss Ralph, our PE teacher choreographed most of the dances but a couple were produced by the children themselves.

Mrs Pierpoint, Head of School said, ‘Miss Ralph and the whole dance club have worked tirelessly on their performances; memorising their routines and designing costumes.  When you see the children on stage their confidence shines through.  We are very proud of all of them.”
