Our Year Six children spent a week at Plas Caerdeon Outdoor Education Centre in the Spring Term.

The Centre, which is situated on the beautiful Mawddach Estuary near Barmouth in Snowdonia, is part of Liverpool Hope University.

The visit gives the children the opportunity to experience outdoor education, study an environment which is different from Kidderminster and learn how to develop personal skills such as independence, self reliance and how to work as part of a team. The types of activities include canoeing, mountain walking, archery, gorge walking, rock climbing, stream studies and orienteering. Highly qualified and experienced Centre Staff lead all activities.

A famous visitor was scientist Charles Darwin, who stayed at Plas Caerdeon in 1869 to work on a revision of his publication 'The Origin of Species'.

Plas Caerdeon provides all specialist equipment and clothing. There is also a purpose-built classroom, teaching rooms, small library, laboratory and a computer suite.

Thanks to Mrs Mills and Mrs Maisey for providing the photos of the children taking part in kayaking, rock climbing, work with ropes, rock pool adventures on the beach, problem solving and walking to a waterfall - do have a look at the photos from their fantastic week in Snowdonia.....
