Forty of our Year 6 children and 6 staff have just returned from a week’s residential at Abernant Lake Hotel activity centre.

The centre offers exceptional facilities within a 55 acre site in a beautiful part of Mid Wales. The activity centre is sandwiched between the Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains.  The hotel has views over undulating countryside with the Cambrian mountains in the distance. The 5 acre lake and adjoining river provides a lovely backdrop for a wide range of outdoor pursuits.  The staff that run the activities are experienced and confident which re-assured nervous children and enabled more confident children to shine.

The children have had a totally amazing, although tiring adventure and are still excitedly chatting about what they got up to, their favourite activities and the fact they would love to do it all again.  Although the teachers feel like they need at least a week to recover!

During the week the children had chance to participate in climbing, abseiling, raft building, orienteering, obstacle course, zip wire, archery, low level rope course, cycling and bush craft to name a few.  Each activity helped the children learn and develop new skills and helped them to become better communicators and team players.

We are already looking forward to taking the next group of Year 6 children!
