On Friday the 6th of March all the children, from Year 1 up to Year 6 gathered in the hall to be part of making a whole school CD, this was a special and rare occasion.  At the front of the hall there was a man; Matt who was from ‘School Recording Stars .’

He sat behind two desks which had laptops on them and in front of him there were two very tall microphones pointing towards all the children in the hall. Mr Ascroft, the Headteacher, had chosen ‘Country Roads’ for the opening song on the school CD.

After a quick warm up with Miss Ralph, Heronswood’s music teacher, all the children’s voices were recorded by Matt ready to be transferred onto a CD when he has finished editing and compiling.  There were six retakes because Matt wanted to make it perfect.

After the first song, everyone who wasn’t in the choir went back to class, the choir stayed in the hall and sung  more songs  like; ‘Doll on the music box’, ‘Consider Yourself’ and lots more.  Altogether there were fourteen songs, it took all afternoon and an hour after school to complete all the recordings but it was worth it!

Miss Ralph set a competition to create a name for the CD and to design the front cover for the CD. It was announced in the whole school assembly.   3rd place went to Emily Jones age 7, 2nd place went to Anna Watkins age 10 and 1st place went to Lydia Person age 9.

Well done everyone for having a go and we can’t wait to hear the finished product!
