The oldest children at Heronswood are currently working on a topic all about spies.  The children are thoroughly enjoying the topic, but the teachers decided to raise the bar last week.

They invited a story teller into school to work with the children, but Sue is no ordinary story teller as she writes her own Murder Mystery stories.

Below the children have written up their own accounts of the day and some pictures

Holly - Our school topic is about spies. Today we had a story teller came in, but it is was not what it seemed! We thought it was going to be a story…. But instead we had to investigate a crime scene made up by the teachers.  We were put into groups and had 2 minutes to look at the crime scene.  We investigated who it was that had been murdered, who was murdered and why and how!  The murder was in the library, suspicious!  The person who was murdered was Alice! And the murderer was the Queen of Hearts from Alice in wonderland. We solved the case! This afternoon we made… Spy silhouettes, newsletters, spy poems and designed a spy vehicle.  It was an amazing day!

Rosey - Today, in the school hall, we were secret spies in action.  The children were using all their super spy knowledge to find out facts linked to this investigation. All the classes were mixed, so we could all co-operate together.  We have also investigated science experiments including acid and rat poison, it erupted just like a volcano and it was interesting to observe!  Today we have had an amazing amount of fun and we are hoping it will happen again with our next topic.

Jorja - Today has been a spectacular day for the 5/6 classes. Today was storyteller day.  The children thought a person would come in and read a story but instead we had the best morning ever because there was a crime scene in our school library!  It was the best morning of our 5/6 lives.

Libby - Our topic is all about spies.  Today we were thrilled when we found out what we were doing. All three classes were split into two groups. Here is a list of what we did: Drew pictures, Design spy vehicles, Identify murders, Collected clues, Made up stories, Word searches, Spy silhouette pictures, Spy poetry.  Everyone really enjoyed their day!!  It was an amazing day, also the teachers had a great day too.
