On Wednesday 19th July, at King Charles – Oldfield Hall, Heronswood Primary School Year Six performed their own interpretation of ‘Shrek’ a modern fairy-tale.

The fantastic Year Six actors bought all the beloved characters known from the film to life on stage and proved there's more to the story than meets the ears.

The captivating story told the tale of an ogre named Shrek – played brilliantly by William.  Thus began the tale of our unlikely hero who found himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey- played by the side-splitting Lauren and a feisty princess (perfectly performed by Grace) who resisted her rescue.

Thrown in, was in a short-tempered bad guy called Lord Farquaad (played brilliantly by Scott), a cookie with an attitude (Finlay) and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that called for a real hero. Luckily, there was one on hand on hand... and he, alongside his fellow actors captivated the audience.

The performance was enhanced by fantastic up-beat songs, supported by Year Five children. Heronswood Year Six production of Shrek really did prove beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.
